Summary

"Storm in a Teacup" by Eden Phillpotts is a story set in the Devonian countryside during the beginning of the 20th century, and tells of the intricate dance of love, marriage, and personal fulfillment within these small communities. We are quickly introduced to Medora Dingle, and her husband, along with their friend Jordan Kellock as the story begins along the Dart River. The story explores Medora's growing dissatisfaction with her marriage to Edward, a man she deems immature and unfulfilling, setting the stage for potential romantic entanglements, especially concerning her feelings about their friend. The book uses beautiful descriptions of the natural world and realistic conversations to build a compelling narrative about the difficulties of domestic life and the pursuit of individual happiness.
