Summary

"The Day of the Dog" by George Barr McCutcheon is a funny story set in the countryside, where a lawyer named Mr. Crosby has a crazy meeting with a tough bulldog called Swallow while trying to get Mrs. Delancy to sign some papers about her husband's money. Crosby goes to meet Mrs. Delancy at her brother-in-law's farm, but Swallow, who is guarding the barn, won't let him get to the house. As things get more and more ridiculous, Crosby is stuck dealing with the dog while also trying to convince Mrs. Delancy to change her mind about the legal stuff. The story gets wilder and wilder, leading to surprises, changes in the characters, and even a little bit of romance in the middle of all the mess.
