Summary

"The Planet Savers" by Marion Zimmer Bradley is a science fiction story happening in a world where people from Earth meet the locals of Darkover. It kicks off when a guy with no memory wakes up in a doctor's office and finds out he's mixed up with a medical expert named Jay Allison. Jay is trying to stop a terrible disease on Darkover called the 48-year fever from wiping everyone out. As our main character tries to figure out who he is, he gets pulled into helping the native Darkovans, called the trailmen, with their problems. It's a journey that mixes figuring out his own identity with big ideas about doing what's right, staying alive, and understanding different cultures.
