Summary

"Hocken and Hunken" by Arthur Quiller-Couch is a story about Captain Caius Hocken's return to his coastal hometown of Troy after years at sea. As Captain Cai settles in, the book explores his friendships and how he adjusts to the changes in town. His first mate, Mr. Tregaskis, is by his side as they sail in. The story has a friendly and funny feel. It follows Captain Cai as he sees people he knows, like the talkative Quaymaster and Mr. Toy the barber. Their discussions bring out Captain Cai's worries about living on land and reconnecting with old friends, especially Hunken. He hopes Hunken will be a part of his new life. This beginning shows Captain Cai's character, his wishes, and a close- knit town with amusing situations.
