Summary

"Little Golden's Daughter; or, The Dream of a Life Time" by Mrs. Alex. McVeigh Miller is a late 1800s story about a young girl named Golden Glenalvan, who wrestles with her family's secretive past and desperate longing to be accepted. Growing up in relative poverty, Golden finds herself the target of her unkind cousins, causing her to question her place within the noble Glenalvan family. As Golden grows and experiences a shy romance with Bertram Chesleigh, a rich visitor to her uncle's home, her desire for love butts heads with the realities of her mother's tarnished reputation that precedes her. It is this setting that captures a vivid snapshot of Golden's journey towards defining her own moral compass amidst the backdrop of societal expectations and dramatic family saga.
