Summary

"Lancaster's Choice" by Alex. McVeigh Miller is a story set in the late 1800s, about rich Lady Lancaster, who wants her nephew, Clive, to marry a rich woman to save the family's wealth, but Clive just wants to be free and plans travel to America with his friend. However, Clive is asked to bring back a girl from America named Leonora West, who is the orphaned niece of Lady Lancaster's housekeeper. As Clive handles what is expected of him and what he wants, he begins to have feelings for Leonora, who turns out to be more than just a child.

About the Author

Mrs. Alex. McVeigh Miller was the pen name of Mittie Frances Clarke Point, an American novelist. She wrote 80 dime novels during a 50-year career. Her first novel was Rosamond, but her success began with the 1883 romance, The Bride of the Tomb. She died in 1937. In 1978, her home, "The Cedars", was listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
