"Trouble" by George O. Smith is a science fiction story set in the middle of the 20th century. It's about figuring out who we are and what happens when an engineer finds himself sharing a body with a physicist, bringing up ideas about being creative versus being sensible in science. The story is told through the eyes of Tom Lionel, a consulting engineer dealing with a split personality, which creates funny and interesting situations as both sides try to handle problems in their own ways. Tom's life gets turned upside down when his physicist side starts messing with his practical work. Tom gets annoyed by his physicist's wild ideas and costly purchases, like a mass spectrograph he thinks is pointless. Things get intense when the physicist starts using lab equipment for crazy experiments, like studying ghosts and trying to control antigravity. These two personalities clash constantly, eventually realizing that working together might be better than fighting as they face surprising scientific problems.
