The marrying monster

"The Marrying Monster" by Claus Stamm, is a funny story mixing fantasy and old stories as it looks at getting married and what people expect from it. Goro, a barrel maker, is sad because his wife died, and ends up married to a weird, super hungry creature from the mountains called a yamam'ba. The story shows all the funny, bad things that happen to Goro after he accidentally marries this monster, who can't stop eating and eats in a very strange way. Goro learns how odd his new wife is, which leads to a funny fight. In the end, Goro runs away to stop from being eaten by the yamam'ba. The story is funny but also makes you think about being with someone and what love really means, leaving you laughing at Goro's bad luck and how strange his marriage is.
