Summary

"A Strange Story — Complete" by Edward Bulwer Lytton is a novel that explores the clash of science and the supernatural through the life of Dr. Allen Fenwick, a doctor driven by ambition and caught between different philosophical ideas. After moving to a prosperous English town, Dr. Fenwick's career takes off when he partners with a famous physician, Dr. Julius Faber. Fenwick, portrayed as an intelligent and skeptical man, soon faces a heated argument about mesmerism involving his competitor, Dr. Lloyd, and is also drawn to Lilian Ashleigh; these incidents challenge his rational views as the supernatural starts to affect him, highlighting a struggle between his beliefs and his growing experiences with the unexplainable.
