Summary

"My Novel" — Volume 04 by Edward Bulwer Lytton is a 19th-century novel that explores marriage and relationships through lively discussions among characters like Mr. Caxton and Dr. Riccabocca. The narrative introduces the reader to the topic through an engaging converstation among scholars of the day. Through examining Dr. Riccabocca's affection for Miss Jemima, the book considers the nature of love, domesticity, and societal expectations from both comedic and philosophical perspectives. The narrative balances these intellectual points with references as diverse as Aztec traditions and the works of Shakespeare, establishing a tone that promises to blend humor with contemplation about what it means to be in love.
