Summary

"The Patriot" by Charles L. Fontenay is a gripping science fiction story set in a future where Earth has banned war music, while Mars is under the thumb of a ruthless corporation. The main character, Cornel Lorensse, is a talented Martian musician who journeys to Earth hoping to spark a revolution. As Cornel seeks help for Mars, he meets Meta Erosine, a rich and influential woman who catapults him to stardom; however, his heart remains set on freeing his people. He creates "The Martianne," a song so powerful it could ignite a rebellion, and during a tense concert, he boldly plays the music, defying Earth's oppressive laws. While striking a chord with the listeners, he also becomes a threat to those in power. Cornel proves himself a man of courage, eventually becoming an icon for those fighting against tyranny, sacrificing his own freedom for the sake of his people and their artistic expression.
