"Captured by Apes; or, How Philip Garland Became King of Apeland" by Harry Prentice is a 19th-century adventure story about a young animal dealer named Philip Garland who takes over his father's wild animal business. Philip has a special connection with monkeys and forms bonds with his chimpanzees, Ben Bolt and Sweet Alice, and baboons, Goliah and Magog.
