William—the fourth

"William – The Fourth" by Richmal Crompton is a humorous children's novel about a rambunctious boy named William Brown and his misadventures. The story kicks off when William eavesdrops on a group discussing socialism and decides to create his own club focused on equality. Inspired by the idea of "Action!", William embarks on a series of comical attempts to address wealth and social structures but his naive understanding of these concepts leads to chaos and misunderstandings with his friends and family. Readers can anticipate a lighthearted exploration of childhood antics, friendship dynamics, and the world seen through William's uniquely innocent, albeit mischievous, lens.

Richmal Crompton Lamburn was a popular English writer, best known for her Just William series of books, humorous short stories, and to a lesser extent adult fiction books.
