Summary

"The Importance of Being Earnest: A Trivial Comedy for Serious People" by Oscar Wilde is a comical play set in Victorian England. It's all about two best friends, John Worthing and Algernon Moncrieff, who make up fake identities to dodge their responsibilities and chase after love. Algernon's fancy apartment kicks everything off, filled with witty talks about life and relationships. John, who goes by "Ernest" in the city, shows up wanting to propose to Algernon's cousin, Gwendolen Fairfax. They joke about dodging responsibilities through made-up identities, which they call "Bunburying." This makes the stage for hilarious mix-ups and love stories as they try to win over Gwendolen and Cecily Cardew.
