Summary

"Plays: Fourth Series" by John Galsworthy presents dramatic stories from the early 1900s, including "A Bit O' Love," which looks at the tricky sides of love, right and wrong actions, and what society expects from people by watching how the characters act with each other. The main character, Michael Strangway, a kind church leader, deals with tough times in his own life and work, showing us how people feel when put up against normal life in a small village, while leading a confirmation class of girls on Ascension Day. As he guides them on love and faith, his own inner struggles and strained marriage begin to surface after his wife, Beatrice, arrives, bringing old secrets into the mix, which could destroy the peace of the village. The relationship between Strangway and the villagers also brings up bigger problems in society as they face gossip and private scandals that question what they think is right and wrong.
