Summary

"Lady Windermere's Fan" by Oscar Wilde is a play set in the Victorian era that explores themes of trust, reputation, and what marriage means to individuals. The story centers on Lady Windermere, a woman whose world is shaken by rumors connecting her husband to Mrs. Erlynne, a woman of questionable reputation; these rumors soon threaten her marriage and challenge her understanding of society's rules. The play begins with Lady Windermere preparing for her birthday party, a celebration soon overshadowed by gossip and suspicion, and as the Duchess of Berwick shares scandalous information, Lady Windermere faces a growing crisis, creating a dramatic exploration of love, betrayal, and the rigid constraints of Victorian society.
