Summary

"The Yellow Dove" by George Gibbs is a historical fiction novel that explores a world of secrets and national duty during World War I. The story is centered around Doris Mather, a woman caught between her heart and her country as she struggles with love and espionage against the backdrop of war. The novel begins amidst the chaos of war, then quickly transitions to a London social gathering where serious wartime discussions are underway. Cyril Hammersley's uncertainty about joining the war effort brings conflict, particularly with Doris, who passionately believes in fighting for her nation. Suspicion arises due to Cyril's shadowy involvement in espionage, setting the stage for future tension and suspense. As the characters' relationships evolve, Doris faces a critical decision: choosing between protecting Cyril and upholding her allegiances to her country.
