Summary

"Where Love is There God is Also" by Leo Tolstoy is a story set in the late 1800s that considers ideas about believing in something, caring about people, and why it’s important to try to be good. It's about Martuin Avdyeitch, a shoemaker whose sadness over losing his son makes him wonder about life. He starts reading the Gospel after talking to an old man and finds comfort. He then looks for Jesus to come to him. Instead, he helps different people: a soldier's wife who needs help and a kid who stole something and feels bad. By being kind, Martuin learns that helping others is like finding God in himself and this sends the message that God is found in all good things.
