Sword of Fire

"Sword of Fire" by Robert Emmett McDowell is a science fiction story where Jupiter Jones, a stranded space traveler, crash-lands on a perilous alien world. Surrounded by bizarre creatures and humanoids without his companions, Jupiter discovers a society riddled with racial tensions, all overshadowed by the telepathic Anolyn who oppress other races. As Jupiter escapes near-death events and confronts local beings, he grapples with solitude and confronts the expectations placed on him. The first part of the book creates a scene for his transformation into an unexpected champion against planetary forces, and also his own internal battles.
