Day of the Comet

"Day of the Comet" by Ivar Jorgensen is a mid-20th century science fiction story that looks at love and fear when Earth is in danger from a comet. Frank and Dee Allison, a couple fighting, must deal with their feelings when they learn the world will end soon. At the same time, the President and the Russian Premier realize that politics don't matter when everyone is about to disappear. The story goes back and forth showing the couple trying to fix their relationship and the world leaders trying to solve an impossible problem that emphasizes the importance of love and forgiveness when facing the end.
