Summary

"Omega: The Last Days of the World" by Camille Flammarion is a science fiction story from the 1800s, where the end of the world seems near as a comet heads toward Earth. The story looks at science and big questions as people react in different ways to the possible disaster. Scientists, leaders, and regular people all worry about what might happen to humanity. It starts with everyone in Paris nervous about what scientists are saying: a comet might crash into the planet! With chaos all around, the author shows a world full of worry as people go to a big meeting to find out more about the comet and how bad it could be. The first part of the book talks about the scientists arguing and discussing the threat, making you think about not just what the comet will do physically, but also how it affects people's minds and society.
