Summary

"The Rival Crusoes; Or, The Shipwreck" by Agnes Strickland is a tale set in the 1800s about two young men, Lord Robert Summers and Philip Harley, locked in a feud that turns into a major showdown. These two wrestle with feelings of anger and hate, but fate forces them into a life-or-death situation where getting by is all that matters. We first meet Lord Robert, a stuck-up rich kid, and Philip, a regular youth who feels the heat from their messy relationship. Their brawls lead Robert to board a ship led by his uncle, but a bad storm leaves him shipwrecked. Both end up stranded on a deserted island after the ship goes down, facing tough survival challenges. This beginning shows us their different lives, personal beefs, and sets the scene for a face-off and maybe some deep thinking as they fight to stay alive together.
