Summary

"The Island Queen" by R. M. Ballantyne tells the story of the Rigonda siblings, Dominick, Pauline, and Otto, who find themselves shipwrecked on a lonely island in the Southern Ocean. Faced with starvation and the perils of their new environment, the siblings use bravery and smart thinking to stay alive and hope for rescue, with the eldest brother Dominick showing a great deal of selflessness to protect his younger siblings. As the siblings encounter a ship, their hope rises, but ultimately is crushed as they realize the ship is wrecked on another shore, far away from any life. This sets the scene for their rough journey of survival where they will need to find their own food while battling the elements.
