Summary

"Guild Court: A London Story" by George MacDonald, is a story set in London that asks big questions about what society expects from us and what we want for ourselves. The book starts with Thomas Worboise, a young guy on a pretty morning, heading from his home to the city. He meets a friend, Charles Wither, and they talk about how their religious beliefs clash with enjoying life. Thomas feels unsure of himself, trying to find his place and do well at his job for Mr. Boxall. It's about growing up, figuring out what’s important, and trying to be yourself when everyone has expectations. This beginning sets the stage for Thomas's journey as he deals with family, friends, and maybe even love, all while trying to understand who he is.
