Summary

"The Light Princess" by George MacDonald is a delightful fairy tale that tells the story of a princess cursed to have no weight or gravity. Born to royalty, the princess is targeted by a spiteful witch because of an oversight at her christening. As a result, she floats through life, literally and figuratively, unable to take anything seriously, which brings both amusement and trouble to her kingdom. Her life takes an unexpected turn when she meets a courageous prince; their bond deepens at a magical lake that temporarily restores her sense of weight, and as their love grows, she starts to understand the importance of emotions she has never felt. The narrative builds to a pivotal moment where her capacity to love becomes the key to breaking the curse, resulting in a joyous reclaiming of her true self and a renewed connection with her loved ones.
