Summary

"Thomas Wingfold, Curate V1" by George MacDonald is a story that starts with two souls searching for truth. The book presents Helen Lingard, a young woman who thinks deeply about the world, and Thomas Wingfold, a church leader struggling with his beliefs. The book looks at what it means to have faith, find yourself, and deal with what others expect from you. We first meet Helen as she looks out at a stormy day, feeling like something is missing in her life. This shows how she feels trapped by society. Then, we see Thomas questioning his faith and his job at the church. He is challenged by George Bascombe, who does not believe in religion, making Thomas even more unsure. This book sets the stage for a journey about faith, who we are, and how we connect with others.
