"Tepondicon" by Carl Jacobi is an adventure that unfolds on Ganymede, a moon of Jupiter, where a terrible plague has turned cities into ruins, and hope is scarce. The main character, George Dulfay, sets out on a quest through seven diseased cities, searching for a legendary treasure called the Jupiter Stone, which is rumored to have incredible power. Protected from the plague by special pellets, Dulfay hopes for riches but finds himself becoming a symbol of hope known as Tepondicon to the desperate citizens. As he navigates dangers and increasing fame, Dulfay realizes that obtaining the Stone might require him to give up his life to save everyone from the devastating plague, forcing him to decide between his personal greed and a noble sacrifice.
