Summary

"Frankenstein; Or, The Modern Prometheus" by Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley is a 19th-century novel centered on Victor Frankenstein, a young, driven scientist who dares to create life from assembled body parts. It's a tale woven with ambition, the perils of humans acting as gods, and the loneliness born from creation itself, framed by explorer Robert Walton's letters from the North Pole, where he encounters the tormented Victor and learns of his tragic journey, filled with early losses and an all-consuming thirst for knowledge that would bring about monstrous consequences. The novel opens with letters from Robert Walton to his sister and gradually morphs into Victor's backstory, which is riddled with death, loss, and danger. This creates an eerie narrative, hinting at the terrible outcome of Frankenstein's pursuit.
