"How Freckle Frog Made Herself Pretty" by Charlotte B. Herr is an early 1900s children's story about Freckle Frog, a sweet frog who wants to be seen as pretty at a party. Spotting Big Mary in her fancy doll outfits, Freckle Frog wishes she could also wear pretty accessories for Mr. Robin Redbreast's party, sparking her quest to transform her appearance. With the help of Little Black Spider and a butterfly along the way, she fashions creative attire by using lace, a mushroom umbrella, and a caterpillar as a muff. When Freckle Frog arrives at the party, she learns that her kindness and friendships mean more than how she looks and she then decides to host her own party and invite everyone instead.
