"Oliver Twist; or, The Parish Boy's Progress" by Charles Dickens is a story set in the 1800s about a young orphan named Oliver Twist who deals with terrible poverty and mistreatment in England. The book shows how unfair society was back then, and how hard people had to fight to stay alive while exploring if people are naturally good, even when surrounded by awful behavior. The story starts with Oliver's sad birth and life in a workhouse, where he and the other kids are treated badly and don't get enough food. Eventually, Oliver stands up for himself and asks for more food, which causes him to go on an adventure filled with both struggles and the hope for a better life. From the beginning, readers are pulled into Oliver's difficult world, seeing his strength against the harsh conditions around him.
