Summary

"Their Silver Wedding Journey — Volume 3" by William Dean Howells is a story from the late 1800s that follows Mr. and Mrs. March as they travel across Europe, specifically Germany, and think about their many years of marriage and how things have changed. The story is about missing the past, meeting people from different cultures, and thinking about themselves as the couple visits different European cities. When the story starts, the Marches are arriving in Ansbach and meet a young German railway architect while traveling. They talk and joke about their travel plans while learning about German history and buildings. The couple explores the charming city, learns about the local traditions and historical places, and thinks about the past rulers of Ansbach, like the Wild Margrave and the Last Margrave. The story mixes historical events and modern travel experiences, inviting readers to think about how personal stories and cultural history come together as the Marches enjoy their silver wedding adventure.
