Summary

"Sonia Married" by Stephen McKenna is a tale set after World War I, focusing on Sonia and her husband, David O'Rane, as they and others deal with the complicated relationships caused by the war. Raymond Stornaway, having spent a year in an Austrian camp, returns to a changed England feeling lonely and out of place. He sees London full of soldiers and regular people, showing how much society is changing. Through his interactions with characters like George Oakleigh and seeing Sonia and O'Rane's life together, Stornaway's story shows the contrast between the past and present, the weight of war, and the difficulties of personal relationships in a world trying to find peace after chaos, mixing personal feelings with social observations as readers see drama unfold around love, loyalty, and the consequences of war.
