Summary

"A Great Man: A Frolic" by Arnold Bennett is a story set in early 20th century London that follows Mr. Henry Knight, a draper's manager, through the ups and downs of family life. The book looks at ideas like what people want, who they are, and how funny life can be with a family. The story starts with Henry trying to write letters to newspaper editors, but he's interrupted by his wife, Annie. The night gets even more chaotic when he has to find a doctor because Annie is having a baby at home. This part of the story shows how the book will mix regular life problems with tricky family relationships, especially how Henry changes as a person and how his family both annoys and loves him. Henry starts out annoyed but becomes proud and a little scared as he gets ready to be a dad, showing a personal journey that will keep going as the story goes on.
