Summary

"The World-Mover" by George O. Smith, is a science fiction tale about scientist Les Ackerman, who accidentally causes a nuclear explosion and gets stuck between two alternate timelines. In one reality, he lives, and in the other, he deals with the disaster he created. As Les tries to find his place in these strange conditions, groups from both timelines see him as the most important person to fix their problems. Early in the story, Les is working hard on a new element called Element X, when a nuclear event puts him in a strange state, watching the disaster he caused. Stuck between two realities, he sees the results of the explosion and struggles because others think he is dead. When Tansie Lee arrives, she makes things even more complicated. She informs him that he is important to what is happening and that he needs to help guide the two realities that came from his experiment. Les not only deals with his new situation but also faces pressure from people who want to control his destiny and the future of both worlds.
