Summary

"Anti-Slavery Poems 3" by John Greenleaf Whittier is a collection of powerful poems from the tumultuous mid-1800s, when America struggled with slavery. Whittier shines a light on the cruelty of a system that denied freedom and dignity to human beings. His words paint vivid pictures of families broken apart by slavery, the injustice of laws like the Fugitive Slave Act, and the brave resistance growing in places like Kansas and the North. Through passionate verses filled with striking images, Whittier stirs people's emotions and makes a strong case for ending slavery, urging them to fight for a more just world where everyone is free.
