Summary

"Her Fairy Prince" by Gertrude Warden is a story about two Englishmen, Captain Garth and Wallace Armstrong, who meet again in Boulogne after a long time. Armstrong is dealing with money problems and feels let down by life, and although he sees himself as someone who's made mistakes in the past, he's hoping he can turn things around by marrying someone who can make him rich and get back on his wealthy uncle's good side. Armstrong aims to improve his situation, possibly by marrying Garth's daughter, Laline, who doesn't know about the harsh realities surrounding her upcoming marriage, which seems to be a way for her father to get away from his gambling habits, and for Armstrong to inherit money from his uncle. The story sets up a world of lies, money problems, and playing with people's feelings, showing Laline's journey as she faces themes of innocence, sacrifice, and the search for a better future.
