"The Childerbridge Mystery" by Guy Boothby is a story that follows William Standerton, a rich Australian businessman, who takes his kids, James and Alice, back to England after working hard for many years. When they get to England, though, their lives get mixed up with old rivals and secrets, which puts their new happiness in danger by the tragic death of William, after the ghost stories about their family home, Childerbridge Manor, come to life. We learn about William's life, how he moved from England to Australia, and how he became successful. As the family is getting ready to leave Australia, a man named Richard Murbridge, who really dislikes William, tries to cause problems, James tries his best to protect his family through these challenges.
