Summary

"Irresolute Catherine" by Violet Jacob is a story from the early 1900s that follows Catherine Dennis as she struggles with a big decision about who she wants to marry. She is caught between her old flame, Heber Moorhouse, and her soon-to-be husband, Charles Saunders. From the very beginning, you can feel the stress as Catherine's choices pull her into a confusing mess of feelings and what people expect from her. The story starts in the countryside, with Heber thinking about Catherine, who is about to be baptized. Then, things get heated at Bethesda when Catherine's baptism turns into a show that makes Charles mad. This is a turning point that shows just how rocky their relationship is and how Catherine is struggling to choose between what she knows and what she really wants. Susannah plays an important role, helping to deal with the fallout from everyone's decisions and the fights that come from love, jealousy, and what society thinks. Overall, the book is a look at tricky relationships and the hard choices people make.
