Meccania, the Super-State

"Meccania, the Super-State" by Owen Gregory is a satirical story about a man named Mr. Ming as he travels to the country of Meccania, a place that closely scrutinizes every action of its people. Mr. Ming keeps a journal of his travels to discuss the ways that Meccania differs from his home, noting its political system and societal structure. As he attempts to enter Meccania, he discovers a rigid system of medical checks, strict rules, and a strong insistence upon order. Through his encounters with Meccania's bureaucrats, Mr. Ming realizes that Meccania is a tightly-controlled society, one where individual freedoms are sacrificed for the sake of social order.
