Flamedown

"Flamedown" by H. B. Fyfe is a science fiction story about an Earthman named Charlie Holmes, and explains what happens when he wakes up on Mars after a crash. He learns from a Martian called Kho Theki that he's not really a rocket pilot, but actually got hit by a truck on Earth while reading a magazine! Now, he's caught in a crazy situation because the Martians want to sacrifice him to end a drought. With Kho as his spirit guide, Charlie must face the truth about who he is and figure out how to survive, all while dealing with the funny twist of fate that landed him there. The story ends with Kho hinting this may be a regular occurance, getting Charlie into more adventures on different planets, leaving everyone amused and wondering what will happen next time.
