Summary

"The Man Whom the Trees Loved" by Algernon Blackwood is a supernatural novella about David Bittacy, an older man with a deep love for trees, and his wife, Sophia, who can't grasp his obsession. David sees the trees as living things, creating a bond that strains his marriage. At the start of the story, David's amazing ability to capture the spirit of trees in his art is introduced yet triggers his wife's fear of his growing attachment to the woods. The story shows David's love for the life and beauty of nature, contrasting with Sophia's fear and religious concern about the woods, which she links to danger. This tension creates a compelling drama as their relationship with nature leads to otherworldly implications.
