Summary

"The Man Who Found Himself (Uncle Simon)" by Margaret Robson Stacpoole is a story about Simon Pettigrew, a serious lawyer, whose carefully constructed life is upended when a forgotten, younger version of himself starts to reappear. The narrative starts off with Simon as a stable lawyer who seems to fit the mold of his family, but there are hints of an earlier life, and of being wild, with a lot of impulsive energy. This dormant side of Simon is reawakened one day after discovering a wallet full of money, which reminds him of once, a year before, when the same thing had happened. The oddness of the situation leads him to a neurologist, Dr. Oppenshaw, who Diagnoses Simon with Lethmann's disease, which causes past impulses to resurface. He then goes on chaotic adventures while he comes to terms with parts of his past.
