Summary

"The King of the City" by Keith Laumer is a science fiction story set in a decaying city ruled by criminals. It follows a former soldier who must survive in this dangerous place while searching for important information. To do so, he takes a job protecting a shady businessman who has secrets connected to past military operations. The two journey through treacherous streets, confronting gangs and corrupt leaders. The soldier faces physical danger and moral dilemmas as he seeks redemption and justice in a world where power is the only law.

About the Author

John Keith Laumer was an American science fiction author. Prior to becoming a full-time writer, he was an officer in the United States Air Force and a diplomat in the United States Foreign Service. His older brother March Laumer was also a writer, known for his adult reinterpretations of the Land of Oz. Frank Laumer, their youngest brother, is a historian and writer.
