We follow Wulfric, a thane's son, as he faces dangers at sea and battles against the Danish invaders. Early in the story, Wulfric and his father prepare for a sea trip, but his mother fears they'll meet Vikings. Their voyage changes when they rescue a rower struggling in the sea, who turns out to be Jarl Lodbrok.
