The Life and Legends of Saint Francis of Assisi

"The Life and Legends of Saint Francis of Assisi" by Candide Chalippe is a story about the life of Saint Francis of Assisi and his change to a life without worldly goods and full of kindness. The story starts by talking about Francis's life as a rich kid in Italy, but he grows tired of his easy life. After some dreams and meetings, he decides to live in poverty to serve others where he rebuilds a church. He really cares about poor people, so he begs for them and even gives up his inheritance, setting the stage for a story about miracles, deep thinking about religion, and the long-lasting effect of Francis's teachings.
