Summary

"The Jealousy of le Barbouillé" by Molière is a hilarious play from the 1600s that makes fun of relationships and how silly people can be. It's all about a husband named le Barbouillé who is super jealous and thinks his wife, Angélique, is cheating on him. His jealousy causes a lot of funny problems as he tries to keep her under control and talks to other characters, like an over-important doctor. Angélique, on the other hand, is just trying to get away from her marriage and even tricks her husband a bit. The story shows how silly jealousy can be and makes us laugh at the ups and downs of love and marriage.

About the Author

Jean-Baptiste Poquelin, known by his stage name Molière, was a French playwright, actor, and poet, widely regarded as one of the great writers in the French language and world literature. His extant works include comedies, farces, tragicomedies, comédie-ballets, and more. His plays have been translated into every major living language and are performed at the Comédie-Française more often than those of any other playwright today. His influence is such that the French language is often referred to as the "language of Molière".
