Summary

"The Expositor's Bible: The First Epistle to the Corinthians" by Marcus Dods is a detailed study of a letter to an early Christian church, written long ago. The book looks at the problems and tough questions that the first Christians in a big, complicated city had to deal with. It talks about how important it is for Christians to get along, what good preaching is, and why it's hard when people understand their religion in different ways. The start of the book tells us about when the Apostle Paul was a minister in Corinth, explaining what the city was like back then. Corinth was a busy place for trade but also a place where people didn't always do what was right, and this made it hard for the Christians there. Paul heard that the church was breaking into groups and that people weren't behaving well, so he wrote a letter to tell them to be united and to follow what Christ taught. The beginning of the book prepares us to seriously consider the main ideas of the letter, like why God's wisdom is better than the world's ideas and why Christians need to agree on what's important, even when they have different opinions.
