Summary

"The Iliad" by Homer is an ancient poem that tells about the Trojan War, diving into big ideas like honor, anger, and what happens when people let their feelings take over, especially the fight between Agamemnon and Achilles. The story kicks off with Achilles being super mad because Agamemnon took his prize, and it looks at fate, fame, and how everyone eventually dies. The poem starts by showing how Achilles and Agamemnon argue. Agamemnon won't give back a priest's daughter, so Apollo sends a sickness to the Greeks. Achilles, who is the best fighter for the Greeks, wants to fix things, but he just ends up fighting with Agamemnon about who deserves more respect. Achilles gets so upset that he stops fighting and wants to get back at Agamemnon. This causes a bunch of sad things to happen to everyone in the story. The beginning shows the main people and what the poem is about, like how being proud and wanting respect can cause problems.
