Summary

"The Visioning: A Novel" by Susan Glaspell is a story of self-discovery set in the early 1900s. Katie, an "army girl" reaching her twenty-fifth birthday, questions her expected path of marriage, especially concerning Captain Prescott. While playing golf, a moment of reflection turns into a life-altering encounter when she sees Verna Woods, a girl she believes is trying to end her life. Rushing to help, Katie forms a surprising connection with Verna, setting the scene for a journey through themes of identity, emotional bonds, and wrestling with what society wants versus personal dreams.
