Summary

"Bulldog And Butterfly" by David Christie Murray, is a story set in the late 1800s, where love's path is anything but simple for a young woman named Bertha. She finds herself pulled between two very different men: one, a steady and dependable fellow, seen as a "bulldog," and the other, a charming and carefree spirit, a "butterfly." Bertha lives in Beacon Hargate and faces a tough decision, as she doesn't feel passion for the first man, though he is faithful. The second man, although fun, makes her question how serious he is. Eventually, the rivals end up in a strange showdown, which shows who they really are and is followed by a fire that changes everything. The book grows into a tale of dedication, who people are, and how surprising love can be.
